Boise & Birthdays

For the 4th of July this year, Jared and I took the kids down to Portland just to have a fun family weekend together.  When our little weekend getaway was over, Jared headed back home to work and I took the kids and headed to Boise for a few weeks.

We definitely had a great time in Boise but one thing I have learned after having three kids is that there is no such thing as a vacation for me anymore.  There were moments of fun on our trip, but two weeks away from home with three kids was a lot of work.  I felt a little like I needed my own personal vacation after we got home.  Luckily I still managed to squeeze in a movie with my mom, a little bit of shopping time, and a getaway with some of my girlfriends while I was there.

Even though I was stressed out on our vacation, I know the kids has a great time.  They enjoyed swimming in Grandma's pool, spending time with their cousins, and fishing at Papa's house.  We also had a joint birthday party for me and Hallie on our last night in Boise since we happened to be in town so close to our birthdays.  Jared flew in the night before the party so it was great that he got to be there also.  Hallie and I rarely get to celebrate our birthdays with family so it was so fun for both of us to have a party and to have so many people there to help us celebrate!

We took the kids to the zoo one morning.  We had to go early to beat the heat!

The kids each got to feed a giraffe at the zoo.  It was so neat.
Check out that tongue!

Maggie enjoyed her day at the zoo too!

I turned the big 3-0 this year and Hallie turned 6!

Our birthday party was supposed to be a pool party so we were a little upset when the clouds and rain appeared.  Luckily they didn't last long and the kids were able to get in a few minutes of swim time!
