So here's how it happened...Hallie had been begging to stay at a hotel all summer long and none of our vacations thus far had involved hotel stays. I was also upset about the fact that the summer was over and we had not spent a single day of that summer in downtown Seattle. So... we decided to book a hotel room in the city and spend a weekend exploring and experiencing our favorite parts of Seattle.

Of course Pike Place Market was the first stop on our
itinerary.

I love everything about Pike Place and I don't think I could ever get tired of going there.

I love all of the amazing produce displayed like edible art

I love the seafood and watching the "flying fish"

I love the flowers, oh my goodness the flowers- so beautiful

I love all of the different foods and how their smells mix together to create this aroma that is uniquely Pike Place

I love watching the street performers. This trio was our favorite of the day. It seems like the best performers are always in front of the original Starbucks.

I love taking pictures with "Rachel the Pig."

Charlie loved Rachel too

Oh the market... I could have stayed there all day but we had a few more places to go and things to see.

We rode the monorail downtown from
Westlake Center to the Seattle Center where the Space Needle is. We have not been to the top of the space needle since we've lived here. It seems like every time we're there the line is really long and the kids are really fussy. It's still on my "Seattle to-do" list. Someday....

I had to take a picture of Charlie asleep in the stroller because this never happens. My kids are definitely not the "sleep in the stroller" type, or in the car type, or any place besides their bed type. I couldn't believe it when I looked down and saw his eyes closed. Doesn't he look so precious.

After we got tired from hours of walking around the city we decided to go the temple so that Hallie could see it up close and experience walking around the temple grounds.

We always see the temple fly by as we are driving past on the highway so it was nice to stop and spend some time there.

We we also found some time in the day to relax in our room.

And of course the pool was a big hit. Hallie was a little scared at first (big surprise) but Charlie loved the water.

My weekend was complete with a few hours spent shopping at
Bellevue Square. We took the kids to the play area and they had a great time.

This was so cute. There was this ferry boat to climb on with a tunnel that ran through the middle. Charlie was the perfect height to walk right through without hitting his head!
Dear Seattle,
Thank you for saving one of your last sunny weekends for us to come and visit. We had a blast. See you next summer!
Love,
The Schrum Family

Looks like the perfect way to end your summer. BTW, Jared pretty much has Andy sold on moving to Washington. He's been scheming new plans ever since their chat yesterday.
Looks like a blast . . .I didn't even know that pig had a name and your pictures highlighted PPM so well! As for hotels looks like our girls both enjoy "hotel vacations" must be the age! When you do decide to brave the space needle let us know, we've never done it either we always just ride to the 75th observation floor of the Columbia Tower because it's cheaper, higher and doesn't have a line of tourists!
