For the 4th of July we went to a local festival during the day and over to a friend's house that night to light our fireworks. Poor Charlie was hysterical about five seconds into the fireworks display and I spent the rest of the evening sitting inside with him while everyone else was outside enjoying the show. His crying continued most of the night and we were up with him until two in the morning. It was probably my least fun 4th of July ever. We learned our lesson and next year Charlie will be in bed well before the fireworks begin!
The day after the fourth we took the kids to Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. The last time we were there Charlie was just a week old, so we were excited to go back again. We had fun and were able to see lots of animals, but it was sooo cold. Seriously, it was July and we were all in long pants and jackets and were still freezing. Only in western Washington can it be that cold in the month of July!
Two days after our trip to NW Trek it was 96 degrees outside and we were finally able to enjoy our first few days of summer weather. The kids had a blast playing in the kiddie pool and the sprinklers. We were so glad that summer decided to arrive.
Check out Charlie's physique in this picture..... those thighs crack me up!
No story behind these shots, just thought they were super cute.
The number one thing on Hallie's summer to-do list was go to the Great Wolf Lodge, so we decided to drive down and spend a weekend there. The GWL is a hotel with an indoor water park attached.
We had a good time at the lodge, but I don't know if it was a great time (at least for Jared and myself). The kids were too small to go down any of the big slides so Jared and I took turns each sitting with the kids while the other person went down the slides. I must admit the water slides were awesome but would have been more fun if Jared and I could have gone together. We still had a fun weekend!
Hallie turned 5 on July 26th and had a Hawaiian themed "Hula Girl" birthday party.
She was so excited about her party and had been talking about it for months. She was in super-silly mode all day which is what she does when she can't contain her excitement!
The girls made bracelets...
and learned a little hula dance.
They all loved the pinata...
It was a big hit!
Hallie has such cute friends. It was a great party!
After everyone left Hallie got her big girl bike- finally!
We ended the day with dinner at Red Robin which included a birthday serenade from the servers!
Can't believe my baby girl is five! Time is going way too fast. Love you Hallie...
